A serious wine collection is personal. It reflects years of discovery, changing tastes and bottles chosen for specific moments. Managing it well requires more than software—it requires judgment, context and meticulous hands-on work.
Like many wine lovers, my own journey began with an “epiphany wine.” In 1999, while dining with my future wife at Circo in the Bellagio, a sommelier chose a 1988 Tignanello for us. I could smell it before it reached the table. It was, without question, the greatest bottle I had tasted at that point—and it set me on a lifelong path of wine discovery. It has since been surpassed by a 1956 Giacomo Conterno “Monfortino” and 1995 Jean Louis Chave Ermitage “Cuvee Cathelin,” but no bottle has been more consequential.
My professional career in wine began as a partner at eSommelier, where I worked across business development, sales and marketing, public relations and, occasionally, technical support. While there, I created the company’s Concierge services division to help collectors organize and catalog their cellars. That work naturally expanded into acquisitions, valuations and liquidations.
I discovered that working directly with collectors was the part of the business I valued most, so I sold my stake in eSommelier and founded OWC to focus on it exclusively.
Today, OWC gives private collectors one trusted, independent partner for the entire life of a collection—from organization and cataloging to valuation, moves, acquisitions and thoughtful liquidation. I later earned WSET Level 2 with Merit and became a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
